Guess who's back. Back again. When I started this blog, I swore to myself I'd never write a full-of-lame-excuses blog post about "why I hadn't been blogging lately." So I won't. But I clearly never swore to myself that I'd wouldn't begin a blog post after a few-months-long hiatus by quoting Slim Shady. So I'm back. Back again. Now, onward to Mommy Brain Monday, my weekly collection of faves from the web.
Fashion Police Jr. It exists. I'm not sure how long it has been around, but I just stumbled upon it this week; all 82-and-counting photos of celebs and their tots. Love. It. After a quick scroll through, I can confirm that Suri Cruise and Violet Affleck are officially the cutest celeb kids on the planet, and that I don't know what the H is going on with the Jolie-Pitt kids. Oh, and that Madonna acquired a new daughter at some point that I totally didn't know about. Huh? Anyway, if you've worked your way through all the new regular Fashion Police photos of the Kardashians, I encourage you to check out the FPJr.
Don't get me started on the stroller thing again! OK, I swear this will be the last link to celeb kids, but the headline alone p*ssed me off (as of course, babble.com aims to do.) This slideshow is all about kids who are "too big for their strollers", and shows a few pics of celeb kids in strollers. As most of the commenters point out, this whole slideshow is STUPID. Because some of the kids in the pictures are as young as TWO. But mostly because WHO CARES??? My daughter is four. We walked into the Grove twice this weekend (about 1.5 miles each way) and you bet she was in a stroller. Yes, she is "old enough to walk", and loves to walk, run, skip and dance around when we are in the Grove. But the three mile round trip to get there and back? Please. I take great satisfaction that the comments for this slide show are for the most part, just as insanely irate as the one I'm currently typing--hmmmm, they must have kids too, go figure! For those who are interested, I addressed the topic of Stroller Haters in a previous post.
Food, glorious food! Erik is of the opinion that "more is better." Even when it comes to food. When he comes home with 8 bags of dried edamame "because they were 2 for 1", I seriously want to scream. But what's even worse than his dry goods bulk buying is when we cross lines on fresh foods, and accidentally double-buy eggs or milk on the same day because we are almost out. Or when I've bought fresh ingredients for recipes throughout the week, but the leftovers start piling up too. This article on how to cut down on food waste is pretty nifty, and the comments added even more great tips. Check it out.
Double Dutch Bus, Animated. Introduce the kiddos to the real dizzouble dizzutch, without the help of Snoop Dogg's shizzle nizzle. The animation's not fancy, but it's undeniably a workable blend of funk and, well, colorful dancing animals.
